SZA Announces ‘Lana’ Album With Nature-Themed Promo Clip

The project will be the deluxe edition of the singer-songwriter’s 2022 LP ‘SOS.’

For fans keeping “SOS” on repeat, SZA will soon release some new material on her upcoming “Lana” project.

The album, which has a title with an abbreviation of the singer-songwriter’s first name, Solana, was announced on Monday, December 9, with a scenic promotional video. The clip is soundtracked by an unreleased song–which samples the 1977 Isley Brothers classic “Voyage to Atlantis”–sung by the 4-time Grammy winner and shows SZA squatting in a wooded location to urinate. Lana will also be a deluxe version of “SOS,” which was released in December 2022 and earned Best Progressive R&B Album in February.

“Clock starts now. Happy anniversary,” a message from the video shows at the conclusion.

Although a release date has yet to be confirmed, “Lana” has been long awaited and was previously teased in 2023 when SZA posted what appeared to be potential album covers.

“I think I am making music from a more beautiful place. From a more possible place versus a more angsty place,” SZA told ‘British Vogue’ about “Lana” in a profile published last month. “I’m not identifying with my brokenness. It’s not my identity. It’s shit that happened to me. Yeah, I experienced cruelty. I have to put it down at some point. Piece by piece, my music is shifting because of that, the lighter I get.”

We’ll be sure to hear “Lana” tracks when SZA hits the road with Kendrick Lamar for the Grand National Tour, which will hit 19 cities beginning April 19 in Minneapolis.
