Young Thug Petitions to Amend Metro Atlanta Ban Following YSL RICO Plea Deal
Following the conclusion of the YSL RICO trial, Young Thug's legal team filed a motion to amend one of the probationary terms outlined in his plea deal.
On October 31, the ‘Business Is Business’ rapper pleaded guilty to one gang charge, two gun charges, and three drug charges and was released from custody to serve 15 years of probation. However, according to new documents submitted on Thursday (December 5), Young Thug, born Jeffery Williams, is requesting that, as of November 8, his being banned from the Metro Atlanta area for the next ten years be further defined.
“Mr. Williams has family in the metro Atlanta area, specifically in the Atlanta, Georgia area and respectfully requests the ability to reside/visit at times, in his home located in the city in the attached, under seal, document so that he can have family gatherings for holidays and other lawful reasons with his family, friends and business associates, which is a home already owned by Mr. Williams,” the document reads.
The rapper’s probation officer is noted to have no objection to the request, which a judge has yet to rule.
According to CNN, the YSL trial, which started on November 27 of last year, was Georgia's longest-running trial until it ended on December 3, 2024.
Along with a 10-year ban from the Metro Atlanta area, his probationary conditions include a ban from referencing gangs in his music and a ban from contacting any of his co-defendants, excluding his brother, Quantavious “Unfoonk” Grier, and Gunna, who is signed to Young Stoner Life Records.
If a judge rules that Thug has violated any terms of his probation, the rapper will receive a 20-year back-end sentence.
